lack of fuel?

lack of fuel? pump timing? help im ignorant on this subject

hi guys thanks in advance my 97 when i step on it it has lots of power but seems to run out of fuel if i floor it for a long time it cuts out and blows smoke. i changed the pick up pump fuel filter and that over flow valve and it still dose it what am i missing thanks again

is it possible to have the timing slip? ive played with the pump and stuff but timing scares me

Timing can slip,

Its not out of the question, what color smoke are you seeing? white or black?

its still black but when it cuts out its white like there isnt enuff fuel to spin the motor at that rpm thats y i changed the pump and stuff

no, timing is a very complicated process on a 12 valve. expect to pay around $120 to have someone to check and reset.http://dodgeram.info/tsb/1994/18-10-94a.htm

ya its over my head so i think ill get some one to fix it i dint believe it was timing becaust it runs so good untill it cuts out

Mine acted similiar and turned out to be a tired lift pump. About $85 for a new one.
