Can you please link me the info?
Cummins doesn't share their service bulletins online.

Um, are you saying there is another pin to tab?
No, thankfully the other pin can't come out.

"BTW, Marc I NEED some more HP this thing is still a dog"

Say the word and I'll bring a plate, injectors, turbo, GSK, etc. to the Red Deer meet. You should probably get your gauges installed before we start to play with the sleeping B.

When I had my kdp done the pin was already gone. My mechanic Loosened every bolt one by one, lock tited them and torqued them to spec. He said that the down pin missing would not be a problem since the bolts are torqued and locked. He said the other pin should be fine. He is very knowledgable about this stuff so I am not too worried, and he garauntees the work for the life of the truck.

If it was gone, it must have fell into the oil pan. This is not good either. I would get a magnetic oil plug. with the shape of the oil pan, I'll bet you will have it in one oil change interval.

not only were the dowel pins used for allingment during installation, they are used to keep mating surfaces from shifting.

I'm not just talking out my rear when I say both dowel pins are needed, my info comes straight from Cummins. They told me the bolts that hold the case to the block don't stay torqued nor prevent lateral movement because the case is made of aluminum.

Well I'll have to get a dowl pin I guess. Where can I get one off the net?

I know you guys are very knowledgable about this stuff. If those bolts done stay torqued with lock tite on them, then that is a major defect within itself.

You can get the dowel pin from cummins. What we are saying is the dowel pins keep the plate from shifting while the bolts hold it up tight. you dont have to tap the bolts in do you?

The pin may have come out in a previous oil change whithout you knowing.

I just got the truck less than a week ago. I was trying to jump on it quick. I probably won't be able to get to the dowl pin right away, but I'll get it done ASAP.

My mechanic said he spent a good while looking for the pin. He looked behind the gears also. He said it either came out during an oil change or that it might come out during a future change. I just hope the truck holds up till I get it done. But who knows how long the pin has been out. I know that it is in spec right now but I'll get that done as soon as I get a chance.

there was a post where a dowel pin in the oil pan wore it's way through the oil pickup tube screen and into the oil pump.

So my best bet is to drop the oil pan. Well, looks like I have a good bit of work ahead of me.

you might be able to use one of those magnetic tools with a swivel and swirl it around in there with the plug out.

dropping the pan is a 10 hr job.

We've got one of those at work. I'll drain the pan and do that. Mechanic said he used one and searched for it for a while. He said it might come out with the next oil change. I've contacted Cummins about getting a dowel pin.

the only way it could take 1 hr by yourself is to cut the crossmember, then weld it back in.
