KDP MYTH
I always thought the KDP thing was no big deal. I have 156000 miles on my truck and really thought it would be a 1 in a million shot that anything would happen. A brother of mine is a diesel mechanic at a Cummins repair shop, mostly big trucks, and he had heard of it and never saw it. I always told him about the problems that were on this site and he said not to worry about it. Well last week he called me. He told me he had a 5.9 with a busted cam. Seems the dowel pin came out and some how lodeged between the timing gear and cam gear. The force broke the end of the cam not to mention what happened to the gears. Needless to say we took the timing cover off my truck tis weekend. Guess what??? The dowel pin had worked it's way out 1/4 inch. We locktite it and pingned around the hole. Then we did the tab repair. I have to thank everyone on this site for all the info they have about our engines. My brother never even heard of this tab repair. He said as a Cummins authorized repair facility they would not be able to do it. For legal reasons.

Onmce again this is a great site.

Dodge Rams Forever..Forever Dodge Rams.......

Fred

using harold bowers kdp jig it wasnt necesary to remove the cover. remove fan and belt and pully, drill and tap hole where kdp is. if pin has started to back out you can tap it back in since the angle of the hole allows ya to do this. a simple procedure

harold is selling these complete kits [everything but fanhub wrnch and an aircompresor] for 69.99 and a 24oz can of beer

his email is rvhvnfn@juno.com . tell him muddy sent ya.
