KDP Fix
I will have the KDP Jig Kit Monday and need to do 2 fixes...my question is...1) I think on one of the trucks the pin may have started to move out (high mile truck) if it has after dilling for the lock screw and found that its moved can a hole be drilled and tapped in the front cover to be able to tap the pin back into place...2) Or does the front cover need to come off and reset the pin into place...3) If the front cover needs to come off Ive heard the front seal can be a problem installing are there any tricks I should know of
Both trucks need to be running asap and down time is important also this will be done outside in 30-40* weather
I have done one fix but it was just a drill and tap the pin had not moved.

Yes ... you can drill the front cover and tap the pin back in ... it's tricky but can be done. Then finish the jig fix. I use a piece of screen and JB weld to patch the hole in the cover.

You can also use a tapered punch to move the pin back in place. There's enough room once you drill the hole in the cover to do this. The set screw will then keep the pin in place. Good luck.
Bob

Re:KDP Fix
I did a tab fix on my kdp and did not have to replace any seals. Somebody from another site (DieselRam.com) informed me that if you are careful and clean up the crank BEFORE removal of the cover and lube it up the seal will be OK. After you put it (kdp) back in it's place just make some kind of a tab and no more worries. Reclean and lube the crank for reassembly. Becareful that you don't get any silicone into the engine ('cause it causes problems with oil circulation) and put it back together. Pat yourself on the back for a job well done. Just don't break your arm doing it though!!!
Tom
