Injector Shims

I want to upgrade to DDP 75hp injectors in the long run, but in light of recent head work, I think I'll wait for now. I can easily get by with my stock injectors, but I do need to shim them as they pop test at 3200psi. Other than that, the spray pattern is decent and they don't leak a bit. They seem to work flawlessly.

Anybody know where to get a shim kit? Or any other info on shimming them that would be helpful? ie. size of shims, X thickness = X pressure.... It's a topic that seems to be hard to find info on.
Thanks for any help.

I'm not too sure there will be a straight correlation between shim and pop pressure, each spring will be slightly different, and will age ( weaken ) differently. At least that is my best edumacated guess. You have your own pop tester?

Hi Pat,
No, I do not have my own pop tester, but I have access to a couple nice OTC ones at the shop here with the proper adapters for these Bosch injectors.

I don't mind spending some time fooling around with different thicknesses, but I need shims first.....

Found this old thread, may help.

Remember, changing your pop pressure also changes your timing...... don't need a repeat performance!

Link is not working... Is it just me?

You're right, it will change the timing. But if I up the pop pressure, that will actually retard the timing, so I should be ok. Definitely don't need a repeat performance though! lol With the head work, it'll be a piston this time....

Adjusting the pop pressures won't affect the timing very much. Nothing detrimental.

Try this again, if it doesn't fly, then paste the second one in without the quotations.

On edit, stupid GOOGLE...................... Try this one.

I have the injector seat sealing washers which is what both of those kits contain. People call them shims, but they really are not shims, they are copper sealing washers....
What I need are the shims to shim up the spring inside the injector to raise my pop pressures.....

If I cannot find a kit for a decent price online, then I'm going to have to call a fuel injection shop that deals with Bosch and see if I can get them. If that fails or if it's too pricey, I guess I'll spend the time on my JD parts pages and see if I can find a JD(Bosch) injector that has shims that will fit.

Yea, I knew what you wanted, but I guess the point was is you will need to find a pump shop and order them, I couldn't find any other reference to them being available as a kit or even where to order them from the Internet.

I couldn't find anything online either. Guess I'll call some fuel injection shops and see what I can dig up.

Guess I was hoping someone would say "oh ya, you can use the shims from such and such and they're five bucks" !!

Well guys, my fuel injection shop says $2.00 a shim and there is no "kit". They have to be ordered separately according to thickness. I asked him "Well how in the world am I supposed to know what thickness I need without the shims to stick in there and see where the pressure's at"? His reply was "Exactly". Jerk. They quoted me roughly an hour at $95/hr + shim costs to set them up for me. No thanks.

For those of you who own or have access to a pop tester, I finally found a kit online!!! Wahooooooo!!!! I bought mine here:

Did you ever order this kit or verify that the shims were the correct O.D. diameter? I believe the shims in the 24 valve are bigger O.D. than a 12 valve. Im measuring approximately 7mm O.D. for 12 valve which is what I need...
