I just got my truck back from the local diesel guru -- I've only had the truck a few year and this is the first time I have taken it to anyone so I was a bit worried....

He checked my timing as dropped off -- 8 degress No wonder it has always been a little gutless!

It is now at 15.5 degrees and runs like a top! Even my wife noticed it had more power, more acceleration off the line, smoother, etc.

I should have done this about 2 years ago...

So if you are on the fence - or if you don't think it is worth the time or money - DO IT! My guy used the spill port timing method so it was a few $$ but I think it will be worth it.

I've found that the majority are off from the factory or have slipped.
Timing should be checked on every engine if it never has even if it's running good.
