if the KDP was/is still a problem?.....

KDP has occured as high as 2000 models trucks.
FWIW, Dodge owns the warranty on the engines & trucks. A recall is up to them.
I've talked with a few Cummins folks and the problem has been rare for them considering the number of p-pumped engines they produce and warranty for applications other than Dodge. Yes, produce, they still have applications.
Cummins has been much better on supporting the infamous "53" block issues.

I called the cummins dealer looking for the KDP tab and they told me they just pull the pin out knurl it and loctite it back in. That was from their lead tech I guess. I don't really care for that though
