Question if the KDP was/is still a problem?.....

....why wasn't/isn't there be an official recall and a dealer redo?

It is not a safety issue....

And it is no longer a problem. Only on the second gens. through '98 if I remember correctly.

Cummins is aware of the problem and has the parts needed to fix the issue. The kit uses a washer and slightly longer bolt (if I remember correctly).

Do you have to use a longer bolt? I didnt but I soaked it in lock-tite, hope thats good enough.

I think I recall seeing a washer (tab) and a bolt in the kit that comes from Cummins.
I doubt the bolt HAS to be longer.

KDP has occured as high as 2000 models trucks.

FWIW, Dodge owns the warranty on the engines & trucks. A recall is up to them.

I've talked with a few Cummins folks and the problem has been rare for them considering the number of p-pumped engines they produce and warranty for applications other than Dodge. Yes, produce, they still have applications.

Cummins has been much better on supporting the infamous "53" block issues.

I called the cummins dealer looking for the KDP tab and they told me they just pull the pin out knurl it and loctite it back in. That was from their lead tech I guess. I don't really care for that though
