Idle problem but only on start up
Hey guys, need some help. My truck idles way to low when you first start it. I can manualy control the idle and once it warms up its fine. But heres the funny part. After its warmed up, if I shut it off and restart it, it idles to low again until its been running for a few minutes. Help!!!
Also, looking for a someone to do some work to my truck in Maryland. Cam plate, install a 4" exhaust and so forth.
Thanks!!!
Luis

Re:Idle problem but only on start up
The idle adjustment is the vertical bolt on the back of the injection pump on which the throttle bellcrank rests. You cannot miss it.
One thing to consider if your idle is getting low is that your timing may be slipping down below where it should be. That is the usual cause of a slow idle.
It is just fine to turn the idle back up until you get it timed, but then it will idle too fast and need to be turned back down.
Your recommended idle speed is posted on the front corner of the engine, below the injection pump on the CPL tag from Cummins.
