Here's the latest
Ok everyone,
So I have the new sending unit and rubber lines in the truck now. Took the 3/8 line right up to where it connects by the fuel filter. But the smaller line I couldn't see to go all the way up. I disconnected it at the steel flex line and made the rubber connection there.
PRimed the system witha combination of hand priming and pressurizing the gas tank and after 1000 primes it came around.
It sarted and ran rough for a while but is now running smoothly.
I won't know until tomorrow if this has worked since it needs to sit and see if it loses pressure.
Int he course of all this I had to replace all the brakes lines too since they were rotten and started leaking as soon as I disturbed them.
Just a not for anyone doing a lift pump.
If you take the plastic inner fender off the drivers side and the bend back the sections by the spring the pump and fuel heater are wide open and I mean wide open.
Maybe you guys already know this but in case you didn't.
If it still won't start properly I will move onto the section of return line still there. Any ideas to make that easier?
Then on the fuel heater for a rebuild. I assume it is better to get parts for it through Fleetguard than buy the whole assembly from dodge?
Thanks again for everything. I could't have done this much with out it!

This is where the pressure test on the fuel tank [ if done completely , about 3 lbs pressure for ten min. with gauge to see if pressure falls - then look for fuel leaks - those branded lines can leak ] , then pressure test at main pump about 26 lbs idle , 36 at 1,500 rpm , in low pressure pinch return line , if pressure comes up , its the overflow valve , if not , it is likely the Lift Pump .

Hard starting update.
Well,
It looks like the sending unit and rubber lines did the trick. I see that dodge is now putting plastic nipples on the sending units instead of the steel ones.
Wish they had done that 11 years ago.
Starts right up now.
During the process I had to put in new brake lines too as they were pretty rotten.
I am considering putting in a new fuel heater/strainer too since it is also 11 years old. The heavy salt use up here seems to rot everything at the same pace.
Thanks for all the help on this one.
