How the heck did I bend the rod in my 4x4 actuator?
Had a slight bend, took a lot of force to move the fork by hand.
Straightened it out and all is well - but it had gear dope in the diaphragm, put silicone around the brass bushing - is that how it got in there?

I had the exact same problem. Only thing I could think of is that I wasnt gentle with the engagement and it jumped a bit.
Looks like it might be more an issue with the collar being worn and not engaging smoothly. So it bounces back against the solenoid and bends the shaft.
