Yep, all STOCK 98s came with it, didn't even have to ask
(well, federal mandate I think)
I already have 4 cats,
the Dodge kitty gives me the most trouble

I thought it was more like you had reach inside,
but not sure what to expect to find

Pound a piece of rebar, etc though it.
Heard of folks using a flat type drill bit with extension to chew though them also. The stuff inside is toxic, wear a mask.
Personally I prefer total removal, never know when you might need an intact cat again. A new one is about $900.

I removed the guts from my ford V10 gasser and it sounds like crap. Wish I would have just bored a hole through it.

guess I was tryinhg to be devious,
thought it would still look like I had one

was thinkin if I didn't want a Cat, it would still look like I had one for any external inspection
But guess if I needed one I'd be sorry, and wrecking it from the outside is obvious anyways..

Yeah, my 96 has one. The first diesels to have them were in the middle of the 94 model year.

Will the resonator from one of the 24V's that don't have a cat bolt right in in place of the cat on a 12V?

my 98 had a cat. in 98 i did not know if they were going to start checking for them so we cut the cat out and gutted it the core was soft and i used a wood bit and shop made extension. once i had a good hole through it you can use a bar to knock the rest out. took about 45 minutes and about half of that was making the extension. i should have cut the short piece of pipe between the cat and the muffler and welded the cat to the pipe and installed a clamp to pipe and muffler but i guess i like to do things the hard way. welding the cat to the pipe on the truck with a torch and mirror was a *****
