How do shift **** come off?

I remember seeing something about the shift **** on the NV4500 being pressed on? True or not, and regardless, how do you get it off?

Thanks,
Rob
(Taking break from fuel lines 'cause of rain. This poor shade tree type ain't even got a tree.)

Re:How do shift **** come off?

The **** it's self is screwed on. You have to take the "1-2-3-4-5-R" decal off the top of the shifter with a screwdriver or a knife. Then loosen the nut inside and then you can unscrew the ****. The shift lever it's self comes off by pulling up on it. Just get a good hold on the lever and pull straight up on it in neutral. That's how I got mine off.
yau can pull the whole thing out of the tranny just by pulling on it. That sounds funny. Has any body Had problems with your shifter being loose even when gear. I would like to correct this. It drives me nuts when the shifter is shakeing back and forth when going down the road?
Thanks Aaron
