Holy Moly

So, i'm normally one of the "the only substitute for power is more power" type of guys, but I think I went off the deep end on this one.

Tinkered with the CTD a little......

I put in the 100 plate and 3K gsk tonight, as well as adjust the AFC a bit. TOO MUCH!!!!

It spins the tires through the gears untill you need to go straight, smokes like a freight train, hits 1200 on the pyro like it's nothing, spools up to 38 PSI in a hurry, and is tricky to drive because the throttle is so touchy. Frreeway acceleration is frickin awesome, but I'm afraid to stand on it hard.

Tomorrow, I'll slide the AFC back a little, turn the starwheel a bit to get rid of some of the smoke, and either slide the plate back or swap in the #6 plate I have.

I need to be able to tow with this thing. Not race it. I can't imagine being able to keep it cool with a load on it.

Sorry to disappoint.

Lot more gain than I anticipated.

Don't tow much really. Most weigh I pull regularly is my Toyota crawler on a 16 foot flatbed. Maybe 6500# total.

I don't want to buy a turbo, as funds don't really allow for it right now. I'm going to just de-tune it a bit for what I need.

Can't seem to get my signature to update, so I'll post the short list of mods.

BHAF, 4" exhaust, 3K GSK, 100 plate full forward, boost elbow, Isspro's, ATS 5 star and valve body. Stock height 98 SB QC on 265's.

That 3k will make it so much more fun to drive. Just trun the starwheel a few and start saving money.

As far as I know, it's all stock. The truck didn't look like it had anything done to it when I got it.

I've now put in a #6, and pushed my AFC back a bit. Gutless compared to last night, but still much better than stock. I'll fool around with it for a while to see if I can get it right. Seems to be a little flat in the mid-range.

A #6 plate is not a great combo with a GSK unless you play with the governor lever.
A #100 plate is fine if you leave leave it fully back. Full Forward and full fuel is going to roast the EGTs. Even fully back requires the Right Foot Governor (RFG) to control the EGTs.

Watch the engine rpm versus tranny rpm when it goes into lock up.

Yeah, I don't like the #6 much. It was given to me to try. I'm going to put the 100 back in and move it back. Thanks.

After looking into the lever adjustment, I might try that before I swap plates back. How does the 6 do when the lever is set correctly? Should it take care of the dead zone in the mid range?
The write up I saw about the adjustment looks pretty straight forward, but their pump was on a bench. Is it pretty simple?

Thanks,
Chad

Plate #'s 6,8,11,12 are terrible matches with a GSK kit. You have to use a lower cut plate or you'll never make any power until your rpm's are way high.

personally seeing that you've got the trans set up I'd leave the 100 and not worry about it.

I have exhaust already.
I think I will be reinstalling the 100 and sliding it back to keep the temps in check for towing.
