Hole in top of gear case

Hole in top of gear case

On my brothers 95 3500 he has a hole in the top of his timing gear case dead Center over the gear that drives his injection pump. The hole is about 1.5" square. What could have caused this? Can a guy just JB Weld it or is it time for an expensive fix? The truck has over 200,000 miles on it.

KDP got him. Do a search. JB would be temp fix, but best to replace the cover. Also, drop the pan. Bet you find a few stray bits now living in it.

Thanks for the reply. We were thinking a repair like that might do the trick. His hole might be a bit smaller but in the exact same spot.

We need to post a picture at the top of the page showing the carnage for everyone to see for when they think repair is not that important, or that couldn't happen to me.
