High Mileage Clutch n Lift Pump

My Ram truck is high mileage. I'm now at 346,069 miles. I'm still on the first clutch and lift pump. Now a situation has developed in Kissimmee, Fl and I'm thinking of making the drive from Texas to Florida. Probably 1900 miles round trip.

The truck still performs great. Easy start, 21 MPG and I tested the clutch in each gear. I stepped on the throttle in each gear and all the truck does is increase in speed, no slipping, no noise. I’m just thinking this trip out. I sure would not want any kind of breakdown on the road.

Any advise from other high mileage drivers? Anything else to consider besides the clutch n lift pump? I drive it locally without any problem but I'm apprehensive with this trip. Thanks.

Nothing other than the same things that would bite you with a 100K mile truck.

Tires good? Brakes, Hoses?

Nothing on the 12 valve that would freak me out at that mileage unless I was towing decently heavy ( say 6-7K and above ).

I just drove 1500 miles round trip in 2 days with my 200K truck, nary a glitch.

I only have 300,000 kms on my 2nd gen and just today am embarking on a 1,600km trip with a 13,000lb RV in tow. Over the Rockies and parking at Osoyoos, BC for the winter. I think that if your truck is running well and you have tended to all of the usual pre trip things like fluids and filters, brakes and brake lines etc. you should be fine!

Cheers!

Mike

Thanks all for the replies. The situation in Florida has been resolved so I do not have to make the trip. Good thing as it was a drive I did not want to make. I have made that trip so many times.

I have looked at a new Ram replacement truck. But, the sticker price is horribly high. Best to keep up with maintenance on my old truck. Thanks again.
