HELP-and trans line tip!
First off I want to tell everyone with an auto trans..CHECK YOUR LINES
Mine were clipped together right in front of the trans pan.
The vibration wore a spot in them until they were so thin they split.
The split was approx 8" long on both lines.
Now here's what happened....
Was refueling truck after a 200 mile trip.
I had noticed the truck shifting funny for the last few miles...softer I guess.
I chocked it up to my imagination.
While filling I noticed alot of oil on the tailpipe, I looked under the truck and there is oil everywhere.
After returning home I found the lines I mentioned above.
I had tried to move the truck the following day before finding the lines.
It wouldn't move.
I repaired the lines temporarily. Put in 6 quarts to start with, put it in gear and let it Idle.
Put in Nuetral-Checked fluid it was overfull. I ran it thru the gears and checked it again.
Still overfull. Decided to take it down the road and park it closer to the house.
It shifted fine, then the TC locked, it didn't unlock.
Now from a dead stop if I just barely put fuel to it it will sometimes move along easily.
Sometimes it will go to full lock and kill the truck or act like a stick shift.
I drained the excess, still acted the same.
I unhooked the TPS, it made no difference.
Truck has a Dunrite Valvebody with a lockup switch.
Stock replacement style TC
Any ideas??? A little desperate here.
I called a couple of trans places, no word back yet..
Need the truck VERY badly!!
Thanks, KO

I have no suggestion for your problem at hand, sorry.
I did have the quick connection fail before and I ended up running hydraulic lines from the trans to the heat exchanger under the manifold. I also had a machinist make me a temp manifold to run the factory trans temp sensor and my temp gauge sensor at the same time.
Making your own lines gives you options!

I second that tip- CHECK YOUR LINES!!!!
I had a bad leaking line up near the front of the engine, some idiot electrical taped it like a winner. So it only took a couple years for the tape to fall off and the leak to get bad. I was running around with only 3 quarts of hydro oil in my trans for a couple thousand miles. Fixed the leak, changed filter and oil, and adjusted the bands and she moves like you wouldn't believe. OD now locks up and holds all the way up to 80mph. Before i repaired her, OD was non existant.
Have you tried to adjust the bands yet?

I have not tried anything yet.
I have been away from the truck for the last week.
I'm taking it to the tranny shop thursday.
They said they'll put new lines on for me and adjust everything...go from there.
I was just hoping someone would say "yep happened to me it's no problem"
It's a bummer because the truck had the trans rebuilt not that long ago.
