Help with a locked TC (please!!!)

I've got a stock 96 3500 with 22k miles on it.

I'm at my witts end... I was driving the other day and the truck stalled when i cam to a stop. I seemed like the torque converter did not unlock. I limped it home, but the tc has not unlocked since. OD works and the on off switch has no effect. I can unplug the 8 pin conn from the tranny which in theory will cut off 12v and ground to the solenoids, and it still will not unlock.

also i replaced the solenoids because one of them did not seem like it was "clicking" just put it all back together, still locked up...

Please help.... snow is comming....

It could be that the forward clutch is stuck. They act similar. Can you get it to move? Once it moves ( if you can ) will it shift? Either way, sounds like the trans is gonna have to come out!

thanks for the quick responses...

it shifts fine once you get it rolling... it wants to stall the truck when you put it in gear but if your careful and can get it rolling without it stalling, then it shifts fine, but the shifts are firmer than before. it does seem to coast ok though, almost like its only locked in only one direction.

From: North Carolina or Kentucky. Take your pick
Before you pull trans. Try disconnecting the OD & Lock up wiring. The connector is slightly above and behind the Neutral safety switch on left side of trans. This will disable OD and LU, but rest will still work. Problem goes away, probablly means wiring problem. If still a problem, drop pan and look for metal, junk, and burnt fluid.

Is that the 8 pin conn that points up? if so, i already tried that, in fact i replaced solenoids already...

not much junk in the pan, no burnt fluid...

I just upgraded the valve body, no change. I'm beginning to think its the torque converter. Any thoughts....
