best way i've found is to just start looking and searching through threads for different questions and mods. thats how i've figured out lots of problems over time, takes awhile but things you stumble on will make it worth it.

First off, many of us don't cruise the forum all day long, it will take some time for people to read your questions.
Next, try and be as specific as you can, simply saying how do I turn up my truck is not enough information to help you, this is probably the BEST forum I have ever seen for getting information out, but we need some input from the person asking the question, and some assurance that person has made use of the search function, especially for rudimentary questions such as maintenance and power upgrades.

what I was trying to find is the very firts place to start, more air?and if you don't know much more than the book tells what are some things that MUST be cheked or replaced other than the k.dp. but things like that. I have a new son and want to do all I can to take care of this truck I am most thankful for any help.befor seeing this site I had no idea what the cummins could realy do

my 98 12v had 130k ish on it and the cat was pluged after punching it i noticed a new animal. but making go is easy stoping it is harder, maybe up grading brakes or at least gm wheel cylinders for drum? again dont know what u drivin.

Well, the VERY first place to start is with a quality set of gauges. EGT, Boost and Fuel pressure are the Mins. I would have.
After that, look at the sticky at the top of our 12 Valve forum and there is a pretty good cross section of information. You don't have to spend too much money to get a serious performer...........
