Help!

Here goes. Trans was rebuilt along with a slew of other things. When we put the trans back in we also put a new pcm in the truck and had a local dealer flash it. The flash took but the truck is throwing the dtc code PO118. This is an ECT sensor. when it throws the code it keeps the truck from shifting into first gear. The truck will take off in second gear. I am looking for some insight here. I have the sensor, but have not installed. The truck isn't supposed to have one. Will the installation of this sensor make my problem go away? If it will, do i have to install it in the side of the block or can i put it in a easier to reach location? Am i on the right track here? I got the truck hopeing that i could fix the issue. I have always loved diesels. Any help you guys can provide me would be greatly appreciated. I also posted this in the emergency section, hope that didnt **** anyone off. Just trying to figure out *** is going on.

Your engine should have a engine coolant temp sensor but I don't think it has anything to do with shifts at all.
Could be the tranny pressures are low or the PCM is bad.

From what I understant the only trucks that have an ect sensor are the california emissions trucks. But I could be wrong.
