help

i just bought a 1994 dodge with 159,000 miles. cummins of course! i have a 3rd gen but im not that good with these. around 2300 rpm it starts to blow blue smoke and kind of spits and sputters. i dont know exactly whats wrong with it. i read on here about maybe the fuel filter but does any body have any ideas?

put a overflow valve in the injector pump its cheap to replace and you will need to do it sometime any way

It's simple five minute, one wrench job.

When my OFV quit the spitting and sputtering occured during the start. Once running it ran fine. Have you replaced the fuel filter? The engine may be starving for fuel.

You should also clean the prefilter

Will it do this all the time or just after start up until warrmed up? Mine sputters like that until it warms up a bit. Not sure why but runs good otherwise

no it only does it when you get to like 2200-2300 rpm. it smokes and spits and sputters i have a ofv on order and i am going to change the fuel filter and see what happens. thanks

smoking, don't forget the pre-filter as well, lots of people don't ever look at it.
