Has this every happend to any one (steering)

I've never heard of it happening... never seen a thread about it...
the Cummins is the heaviest diesel out there, and this cat has some BIG wheels/tires/lift/etc. and actually puts them to use unlike a lot of parking lot warriors out there...
he's taxing that steering box WAY beyond what Dodge ever planned it to do...
I wouldn't waste my time reporting it... get a good box, get the box stabilizer, and get back to the trails!

Forrest, I pretty much agree with you. I think that it is pretty much 100 percent my fault that this happend. I think that once these things get lifted they need a brace. The whole reason I didnt buy a brace yet is my financial issues and I wanted to save up for 370s But I am going to be getting a new box this week and pretty soon a brace.

Sorry folks I was'nt talking about dodge knowing of steering boxes "breaking", I was refering to them (our steering boxes) wearing out resulting in us either (for the most part). 1) living (or trying to) with the death wobble. 2) Replacing our gearbox repeatedly. 3) Adding a DSS or equivalent "fix" to overcome the dodge shortcomings. I hope that I don't ruffle any feathers with this, but I think the box is one of the weak parts in the system. just my .002

Jambbii: When you upgrade your box get yourself the AGR rockram system. This will be the end of all your steering woes. It will be a pleasure to drive down the trail because you will have all the assist you could ever want AND it takes a signifigant load off the box. I have a Rock ram on my Jeep w/40" Boggers and a 1 ton driveline and the steering is so effortless it is almost silly.
I have seen sector shafts snap and boxes get pulled out of the frame - though not on Dodges.
Had to throw in my .02.

CTD NUT, that rock ram is basically hydraulic assist, right? I do wheel my truck but I dont think I am that crazy yet. I have been in tight situations where I cant move my steering wheel but rarely. That upgrade may come in the far future.

Yeah, it's the ram assist system. The kit is not a ton more money if you have to replace your box anyway. You may think you don't need it but a CTD on 40's torqueing down a trail in 4-lo will put a huge strain on the steering system - afterall you did snap a sector shaft. That doesn't happen if the steering isn't being seriously stressed. At least look into it - AGR has a good website.

All offer ram assist kits, the first (and maybe the others) will even rebuild and tap your box for the lines.
Just offering some more options

They are not going to do anything about this or other problems till more people get killed! Look at the Durango/Dakota ball joints! How many thousands of ball joint complaints have they had and there has never been a recall on those!!!
