Harmonic balancer part number issues

Tuesday I tore down the front of the truck to finally kill the dowel pin.

In doing so I found a few cracks in the rubber of the balancer. Cummins Power Stouh was the only place that could get it for me within 24 hours so I took the part number from the dodge dealer (which wanted to charge me nearly $100 more) to cummins and they ordered it.

Upon inspection it is larger than the one that was on the truck. The One in Geno's catalog lists the same part number as the dodge dealer. The pulley and bolt pattern were the same...but the outer ring is about an inch larger in total diameter.

So the parts guy at cummins took the pn off the old one...looked it up and it shows that as being a harmonic balancer as well.

So he ordered that one too for me to look at today (Thursday).

Can anyone shed any light on this? I'd really like to put in the right part. He told me he believes the pn I took from the dodge dealer...and is in genos catalog may be for the 5 spd truck...mine being an automatic has a different one...??

I'm leaving in about an hour to go pick it up...so any insight is appreciated.

I know the 24 valve has a bigger one but thought the 12 valve auto and manual ones were the same.
My concern would be if it is so much bigger that the engine speed sensor doesn't fit.

That was my concern as well. I took the smaller one today when it came in as it is the exact same size as my old one.

As I said though...Geno's garage lists the same pn the dodge dealer does and it's a cummins pn...but it was the bigger piece. It's listed for the 12v. AND the dodge dealer even took the last 8 digits of my VIN...so you'd think it was right...

Got it all together...now my KDP is pinned, new crank seal, new cover seal (RTV with the kit) and new belt and balancer.

Now I just need to check the valves and deal with the lopey idle (I think it's injectors) and she should make it to 500K miles no problem.
