Oddly, I started it after it sat for 4 days with the front down hill. (about a 5-8 degree slope, according to my angle finder). It started, stumbled slightly, then smoothed out. Much, much better than with it uphill. So it seems like the fuel flows away from the engine with the front uphill.

That is a sure sign of air leaking into the fuel system.
The fuel is less prone to run back to the tank if the engine is down hill / below the fuel level in the fuel tank

I have gone through this problem with several trucks.
I have heard of the O-ring in the factory clips on fuel connections being an issue. so check where it clips into the LP.
