HARD STARTing 97 2500
I'm trying to figure out why this truck is hard starting. It sounds like there is no fuel getting to the nozzles or the injection system is loosing preasure between starts. Much like how a cummins is hard to start after a fuel filter change. It's 90 degrees outside so I don't think the grid heater has anything to do with the problem. The truck will start eventually, but it takes a while cranking on the starter. 3-4 times at 10 seconds a pop. Could it be the lift pump?

It's sucking air somewhere, most likely the rubber feed or return lines at the rear of the block. They can suck air without leaking fuel and will eventually have to be replaced on every 12 valve.
Make sure to use diesel rated hose or you be replacing them again soon.

I figured it out. It was the battery cables that were dirty. Therefore not supplying the fuel shut off silanoid enough amperage to open the fuel to start. I cleaned the batterery terminals and all is well. Thanks anyways guys. Ray
