You know, today I am fairly convinced everyone makes a pretty good battery.

I bought my first one with brand new Mopar batteries, 5 years later they were still like new, My Greenie had a 3 year old set of Autozone golds, ran them for 3 more years, and as a matter of fact, I still am using one in my Ramcharger what, 5 years later? About 5 years ago, I decided I didn't trust the Golds, so I did a pre-emptive strike and put a pair of Interstate mega-trons in, of course they are still rock and rolling.

I would buy the biggest mothers you can find/afford, make sure they match, and make sure your cables and ends are in good shape.

Pay attention to sales, you might get a really good deal on say a set of Die-Hards.........

When I had an air leak in my fuel system (bad fuel filter o-ring) I had similar problems starting and white smoke.

Correct.

Once the truck got running, and whatever air that had leaked into the fuel system/filter had been purged, it would run as it should. Could even shut it off and restart (within the same day) just fine too.
