gsk rough response

i installed my 3k gsk, and it seem to run pretty good but the pump is making more noise, the motor stutters and pops at about 2200 a little and the petal is really soft. just wondering if you guys could let me know if i need to tighten up the springs or loosen them. i counted the turns when i took the stockers out and put um back that way. i think it was 5 1/2 turns

This popping usually happens

when ur fueling hard on a smaller pump above 3200 rpms, heck mine is a big pump and it still sputters at 3500 or so rpms, so im guessing its the nature of the beast, or a full calibration and tune is needed, again this is my opinion..

Pedal is really soft, i think that you need to tighten those springs a little bit more, I think more like 6 3/4 turns (about that on a 215 pump) will get you close to stock specs, IF your GSK is installed correctly regardless of the truck year or pump, it will feel like the pedal is linked directly to your tach, and believe me its a fun drive...

U might wanna try just tightening them two clicks this first time, take it for a drive again, and then if still not satisfied, go one click at a time from there on out, Believe me one click will make a big difference! I know with mine its dialed in just right where if i loosen them one click, the idle will randomly drop to 300 rpms. But driving this thing with the springs the way that they are, the pedal and tach are one in the same...

However, if you tighten them too much, you will experience hanging rpms, or the tach will drop much slower than before. just a thing for u to keep in mind...

Best of luck!

Rick

u need to bump ur timing in order to burn fuel efficiently in the higher rpms ...that will get rid of the sputtering...and u will need a better fuel plate than stock in order to fuel nicely at WOT all the way through the rpms...bumping the timing will make u happy

#8 plate is usually in a 180 pump
If slide all the way forward I think the lever might be diving under the plate or hanging up on the lower end.
Here's a good description with pictures
