i am thinking about skipping the DIY and taking it to a shop, and i will be sorely screwed it i take the thing apart and i am in for more than i can chew.

ya, i took it in to a shop. i spent about 4 hours just looking for a 43mm socket to no avail. i really just felt like i was digging myself into a deep hole. definitely passenger side wheel bearing however.
i feel like crap for taking the easy way out, but the truck has been down for almost 2 weeks, parked at a friends apartment. i could risk getting into a job that would take me a few days to fix (ie, more than the bearing).
