Gauges?

Gauges?
I'm getting ready to throw in some gauges, pyro, boost, and trans temp.
Does anybody have instructions on how to install them? They would be great help. I'm about to tow something here in a few weeks and I really want to monitor everything as I'm going

They are a simple install, what brand did you go with? the trans will connect straight to your trans there should be a bolt you can remove in it to screw in the probe.( I have a 96 and that is what mine required)
If you have an aftermarket exhaust manifold than your pyro probe will screw into a pre tapped hole. If not you will have to drill and tap it. You can either remove the exhaust manifod and drill it or drill it and use a magnent to remove any metal that falls into the manifold. If you do leave it in place be sure to make sure you get all peices out! you don't want them getting sucked into the turbo!
As far as the boost remove the air manifold and drill and tap it for the boost guage or get a tapped bolt.
All in all they are an easy set up. I am guessing you haven't bought or haven't received them yet, but they will come with instructions and are an easy set up.

Since youve got a manual tranny, I would monitor boost, egt, and fuel press. Thats what I will be installing soon on my 98. Usually only monitor Tranny temp on Autos. You can drill and tap the exhaust manifold without taking it off, just dont use any tap oil(will make the shavings stick), and when youre done, pull the turbo off, cover it w/ a rag and crank the motor(no need to start it), that will blow all the shavings out. I ordered my guages for my 04.5 from Diesel Manor, came with real good instructions with pictures.

im gonna go with isspro and i'll probably order them within the next week
ya they sound pretty easy to install, i just wasnt all the way sure on how to install the boost. But I'm guessing if they do come with instructions I should be fine.
thanks for the help

I used the instructions from TST as they were one of the first to publish on the web.

There is two 1/8" NPT plugs on the manifold you can use to plumb the boost. I used a 90° elbow and the tubing blended right in to the wiring. Boost is the easiest of the 3 to install. Boost & temp require finding a mount for the transducer box and tapping 12v power.

When you drill the manifold make sure to use the offset measurements. There is a divider down the center of the manifold and if the pyro touches it will alter the temp display. I unbolted the turbo and tipped it back when I drilled to clear the shavings and feel the depth. I wanted to get the tap depth so the pyro holder (compression fitting) screwed in flush to manifold.
Tranny temp is good for both auto & manual. I've seen many burned up manual transmissions due to heat from towing heavy & slow. Local shop installs a system that pumps trany lube to a grill mounted cooler.
