Fuel Shutoff Solenoid
My fuel shutoff solenoid isnt functioning quite right, it will not lift most of the time, i have to get out of my truck and pust the shutoff up? I cleaned the connections at the battery.... is there a way to clean and lube the solenoid? Anything else i should look for?

Soleniod
You can try to clean it but I think that it is probably week and needs to be replaced. As long as you have a good connection then it should work if it is good. One thing you could try is disconnecting the soleniod and jumping from the battery direct. If it pops open then you probably have a voltage supply problem. If it reacts slowly/weekly or not at all then I would say it is time to change it.

It's more than likely the relay on the fire wall that's going out ( I don't have a picture or part #, someone else should chime in). The solenoid rarely goes bad.

I had to do the same, push the solenoid lever up for starting. I removed the unit and cleaned the plunger and assembly. I lubed and reinstalled it. I haven't had a problem since. My plunger was dirty and the worn rubber boot didn't help.

I am having the same problem. On my last truck it did the same also and a new relay fixed it. I work at NAPA and tried looking one up just a few minutes ago and it doesn't list the number. I did a search of my account and I bought one in June 2004. Long story short, I tried ordering one and there are no NAPA warehouses in the country (including the echlin factory) that have one. Part number is AR636. It is possible that they renumbered, but it didn't key a renumber on the computer. Larry B would be the place to go.
