fuel shut off solenoid

OK.. what happened was.. I was coming home and I smell something burning ...and what happened the fuel shut off was smoking like crazy and burnt all the wires to the plug ..so my question is...will it hurt any thing to hold the lever up so I can drive it until I get a new one. SORRY about the typing..I'm not very good at it.

The truck is 95 dodge 1ton

Can anyone tell me if the Woodward solenoids are any
good.. compared to the Cummings. I know that there is a big price difference. Thanks for all your help .. Walt

wont hurt anything to tie it up you'll just have to push it back down to shut it off.

After you price a new one you might just want to get a throttle cable , fab up a bracket, mount it under the dash and save some money. And it works perfect....pull to run, push to shut down.

Control fuel with a PTO cable. It is heavier than most throttle cables. Might want to ask yourself why the thing burned? Did the starter hang up and feed back through the solenoid wires? Has happened many times. Go to Larry B's site and read up on what happens. He sells the isolation diode to stop it. He also sells the heavy contact kit that beefs up the starter.

You can get a PTO cable from a heavy truck or tractor supply house. Install it and hide it real well, harder for a thief to steal it!
