Fuel Sending unit -- Same as a gasser?

I found a guy that is parting out a 97 1500 gasser. I need a fuel sending until for my 97 CTD. Can I use the gasser sending unit? I thought I remembered someone posting that they are the same but I may be wrong. Please let me know.

Bob

Sending units from the dealer are less than $60 bucks.
Is it really worth it to buy a used one?

Where can you get a sending unit for $60? I checked every Dodge dealer in my area and they were $250 to $300. Let me know where I can get one for $60 and I will have it shipped.

BTW I need a complete unit, not just the gauge sending unit. The plastic is cracked and it leaks.

Thanks,

Bob

Okay then, if you need the whole drop-in module, then yes they're 300 bucks.
But 99% of the time these trucks only need just the sender float part, which is why I posted the p/n and said it was 60 bucks.
But I still wouldn't put in a used float assy.

Anyway the drop-in modules are different. The 1500 will have a module with a fuel pump mounted in it. And if it's a shortbed the resistance for the float will read differently.

You need the tank module, not the sending unit if you need the entire thing.
In that case a gasser unit won't work. Gassers have an electric fuel pump built into the module and no provisions for a return line.

Theres a whole 95 or 96 module on Ebay right now, bids started at 20 bucks.

If you can't find it, let me know. I used 1995 Dodge Diesel as my search phrase ( then 1996....)
