Fuel Leak

I just finished installing a rebuilt IP on my 98 12V. while I had it apart, I changed the fuel filter and prefilter screen (heater removed by PO). Now I have it all back together, pumped the lift pump button, fired it up and it seems to run fine. I need to do some brakework, so I still can't drive it under load, but it idles and revs great.

Problem is, I have a pretty significant fuel leak, like more than 1 drip per second. I havent had the time to see exactly where its coming from, but I'm guessing the prefilter. I thought if the prefilter was leaking, the engine wouldnt run well, ie sucking air. Since it seems to run fine, do you think its a good assumption that the leak is somewhere in my return line?
I'll check later today to see if its held its prime. Can't do much with sleeping babies above the garage

Return line leak symptoms are hard starting after an overnight park.
Supply line leak symptoms are hard start on a low tank.
As long as your tank has enough fuel that it keeps on dripping you won't have a problem, just a mess.

Well, it sat for a little over 48 hours, and fired right up, absolutely no hesitation, etc. Tank is 1/2 full. Still had a few drips, making a mess and whatnot, but I'm very happy it starts and runs. I'm happy it runs, but hate to add yet another drip

I had to replace my lift pump recently, it was seeping from the weep hole in the pump housing.
