fuel filter # please and a good drop in for air
desparately need a fuel filter for my 'new to me' 94' 4x4 5spd. i dont want to go cheap on a fuel filter, although broke. does someone have a website store with good prices? and i'm looking for the thread with the step by step fuel filter change for my 94. i was a little confused about wether or not i really needed to prime/bleed after new filter is on if i fill it to the brim with diesel. does the system lose pressure? also i think a drop in air filter for my stock box would be enough for my use but i dont want to mess around with the oiling thing. your shared expertise is greatly appreciated.-thanks!

You may have a good wait by ordering online due to the holidays . . .
I don't think that the Napa filter is going to hurt anything, but the Fleetguard filter from Geno's is the actual Cummins specified unit. Most everybody will agree that Fleetguard is the standard that others are judged by.
I ordered a bunch of parts from Genos, and they are great. If you're in a hurry then don't hesitate to buy at the local Napa. Otherwise, if there is a Cummins service place in your area I'm sure they have parts on-hand. just bring the Part number with you.
By filling the filter to the top you shouldn't have too much trouble. The P7100 injector pump kind of 'burps' itself of little air bubbles. Other wise you can crack the line loose where it connects to the pump and pump the little plunger that sits about a foot below the filter with a broom handle or something until fuel squirts out of the fitting. Then snug it back up and you should be good to go.
Have fun,
Phill

Just put a new filter in, fill it with CLEAN diesel, intall, push primer plunger about 20 times and it will fire. There will be alittle white smoke. Just take her out and drive it to get the rest of the air out.
IF, you cant get her to fire, have someone crank the truck and just loosen the fuel line injector nuts, one by one to get the air out.
If you order from Genos, do yourself a favor and spend the money to get a Factory Service Manual. It will pay for itself.
FWIW I have ran Napa Gold filters for awhile in my truck and havent had any problems. They are made by WIX. You can get them cheap from www.fleetfilter.com

On a '94 the trick to an easy filter change is to remove the two nuts that hold the brake master cylinder to the booster. Even though it doesn't look like it the master will swing easily toward the driver's side giving you tons of room to work.
When you have the filter out remember to clean out the bottom of the sediment bowl.

No. Just have someone crank the engine, crack the injector nut (dont take it off) untill it squirts some fuel out, tighten it, then do the others the same way.
