here is the pic, not very good, but the area in red is where the oil started pooling up after we cleaned it.
We are going to pull it apart tomorrow night and see whats going on in there, he wants to try some industrial strenght metal appoxy and see if that helps slow the leak down, i am kind of skepitcal about it, but its the only option he has at the moment. He got a qoute of about $1000 in parts to fix it. I guess we will see what happens. If you guys have any more info to share, that would be great, thanks again

i strongly urge you to NOT jb weld or apoxy it, there are 5 bolts that hold the cover on and when the pin falls it breaks the case and causes the bolts to loose torque, if the bolts ever fall out it could casue major engine damage, trust me just had to replace the cover on my brothers truck and the bolts where fairly loose, i would look into tearing it down and doing it right, its a big job, but a big releif to know its right

???
Not sure if this is a joke, but this is MY PICTURE that I posted in the help section a couple days ago of MY engine..I can tell because of the blue wires from the alternator. Not that it matters, but you aren't being truthful about it that's for sure.

Yeah, i did borrow the picture, Sorry i shoud have said something about that, i only used it because it was the only picture of a 12v that i could find that showed where his oil was pooling up. I did not mean any harm by it at all.
On a second note, we took the water pump off the truck and removed the cooling fan mount. We cleaned it up and noticed a pretty severe crack on the timing case that is just below the cooling fan mount.
It was to costly for him to tear the truck down and fix it properly. He is going to use some metal appoxy on the crack. We cleaned it up real well, so hopefully this will buy him sometime. He bought the truck for 4000 and he cant justify putting all that money into it. He can pick up a whole truck with a 12v in it that only has 130k on it for 3000, so we will see what happens.

Yeah no problem, it through me off is all..and I as well bought the truck for $5000 so there's no justification to spend a bunch of money on it.I hope the epoxy {if mine is the KDP} will hold.

Mainer,
I dont know if a 12v 1st gen would work, how could i find out??? I guess i could post a new question on here and see if it would.
What happend to your truck, i noticed it in the parking lot up at school the other day. That sucks. Are you going to get it fixed.
Tirehauler,
Sorry again about that, We put the appoxy on this morning and we are letting it cure.

You are going to have to put the old KDP, or a new one back in.
What I've seen happen a few times when folks try to shorten the job with just epoxy and not replacing the pin is the structural integrity or the case is compromised. This results in it cracking again right below the injection pump. The pump is then only supported by the fuel lines for a few seconds until the lines bend and push the pump towards the driver's side until the gears no longer mesh and the lines are bent beyond reuse.
The simple fix then turns very expensive.
