Frame ?

Frame ?
What is the difference in frames of A 3/4 Ton and a 1 ton cab and chasis truck. I would like to take a 96 2500 extended cab truck and put duals under it and mount a wrecker body. Any suggestions. :P

Re:Frame ?
The Dodge frames are not very user friendly for wreckers because they are wider than either Ford or GM. Some companies will not even guarantee their units installed on a Dodge.
There is not much if any difference in the frames, I don't think. The difference is in the springs and wheels/brakes.
Someone will no doubt correct all this.

Re:Frame ?
If both frames are "coil & link" rather than one being "IFS" they are very much alike....I know a bit of this due to spring tower cracks (severe) on a '95 2WD (IFS).....DC bought me a new frame...put it all together and it cost me rental car fees....no more. There was a recall on coil and link but not IFS....they did it for "customer relations".
