found a doner truck (for the motor)
i have finially found part of the problem with #3 knocking. i bit the bullet and pulled the head. and found that all 6 pistons were melted so i found a bone stock 95 3/4 ton 2wd with 126000miles and a bad slushbox the old timer pasted away and the wife said that he hardley went over 55mph so i think it is a great motor and he bought the truck new. am i going to have any probs mating nv4500 to it? besides having to put my fly wheel and bell housing on it. my plan is to put this motor in my truck for the time being and take my time rebuilding the bad motor. what do yall think?

Roger that, I don't blame you. I upgraded from a 2500 to a 3500 dually when I bought my last one, same reason. My loads were increasing and I wasn't feeling warm and fuzzy any longer with just one tire on each side.

Wow!!! That's a great price. If the body is good it'd be worth fixing the tranny just to have. I thought I saw a 2nd gen auto in the classifieds recently. As to the starter, I don't know. I went from 1st to 3rd gen, missed the seconds all together.

You should pass on this deal and run extremely fast in the other direction. It is a bad, bad, deal. While you are running, would you mind sending me the information on truck (telephone number, location, address, things like that).

The engine adapters are the same as well. The only real difference is there will be a TPS sensor on the throttle linkage for the tranny.
Hang onto that 2wd truck, could make it into a nice little cruiser.
