Fleetguard oil filter question

Does any one know if the LF3959 is ok to use with a 12 valve. After cross referencing of Mopar and Fleetguard part #'s on Fleetguards' site I am confused as to if I can use it. Then I looked on Genos' site to find even more #'s for the 12 valve. Thanks in advance

Yes. You can use any of the filters listed for the 5.9's on a 12 valve.

The LF 3894 is a better filter due to the synthetic filter media, IMO.

I've used a couple of the Geno's 3rd Gen filters on my 95 12V with no problems.

Thanks guys, I had picked up the 3959 before I found out there were better ones out there. I'll use it this time and get the upgrade next time.

It will fit , but unless it is the p/n that is for the 24v trucks , DO NOT use it , the 24v trucks can and will crack those filters, better deal is to buy a bunch of the 24v filters , those will work on your 12v no problem.

Sure it will fit. But Cummins says you can go forward but not back. 89 model can use ANY Dodge Cummins oil filter 89-07. But the 07's can't use a 89 model filter. Supposively they update/upgrade the filters to handle more pressure/vibration what have you. Even though they all operate at the same oil pressure. Many have used old filters on new models with no issues. I wouldn't. It's just as easy to find the correct filter from many online dealers.

Grey Wolf, wow I like the those new filters. I bet they're gonna cost more . I really like the flat bottom so you can prefill it and not have to worry about it tipping over. I try to balance them in a roll of duct tape while I prefill.

On the 01...use p/n: LF3894 (Stratapore)...probably $1.50 more and worth every penny.
