Ok,so I don't have a CTD.....but I do have a Ford that is going to be getting a 12Valve soon.Got a few questions though.Which tranny would you guys put behind a second Gen 12valve?Gonna beef it up a bit....Ok as much as I can afford so the tranny has to be stout!Looking at either a NV4500,NV5600,or a ZF5 outta a ford diesel.Worried about the 5600 being too big to fit without major floor modifications. The 4500 has from what I was told a bad habbit of losing the 5th gear hold nut(that has to be ugly!),and the ZF....well,Adapters are expensive but I know it fits!

You can buy a fully splined shaft for the 5th gear problem. They are available at many different places but quad4x4.com has them. I've never ordered there but everyone that I know that has ordered from them was very happy with product and service. As far as 5 sp. or 6 sp. I don't think that you would have any clearance problems with the 6 sp. that couldn't be overcome. The 6 speed would be better for heavy towing because it has closer gears. One drawback is that new venture went out of business and parts for the nv5600 are scarce. There are enough aftermarket parts available for the 4500 so that's not a concern.
