Fire ringed head/ stud loose NEED HELP!!!!
Fellas Im a 3rd genner, but a buddy of mine bought a 94 12v and the fella that he bought it from said it was fire ringed and had ARP head studs in it and has a 3pc manifold, and that's all he knows is done to the truck. It still on the stock turbo from what I can see.
He say's the truck smokes like freight train and when hooked to a trailer his egt's get outta control fast!!!! Is there an easy way to check the fuel plate to see what might be done to that and what do I need to look for??
He said he has a stud that is loose and is loosing coolant, could that just be the stud being loose and letting coolant leak around it, dose the stud just need to be retorqued??
Any info will be greatly APPRECIATED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks,
Buddy

Its a matter of luck , it could be a can of worms , or a simple fix .
There is no way to tell what is up with out lots more info / testing .
How long has this been leaking , including the last owner ?
If more that a few miles you may need a new head gasket at min.
The 1st thing would be , he just bought it , were these issues disclosed during the purchase ? / if not take back .
Was it sold as good for full price/value ?

Im not sure how long it has been leaking but he hasnt run it since he found the loose stud and notice coolant in the oil.
The info I gave is all I have right now, like I said I dont know a whole lot about the 12v's and want to help him on getting it fixed.

Could be improper torque procedure when installing, or no retorques that caused the loose stud. If you are mixing oil and coolant, I'd look at just replacing the whole head gasket. Then you can check the condition of the pistons and the head at the same time.
