Finally shifts right

Some people with better mechanical abilities will laugh at this post but it had me stumped. My 1994 RC 2500 had shifted oddly since I got it...strange early upshifts and the usual lock/unlock of the TC which I accounted to the TPS. I also own a 1995 RC 2500 and I noticed that the throttle on it seemed much stiffer. A couple of mornings ago I went out to start the 1994 and since it was quite cold gave it some throttle...and I noticed the throttle did not return to the normal spot so I didn't start it. Then I pushed the throttle to the floor (engine off) and it stayed on the floor. Thinking I had broken something on the throttle control I opened the hood and discovered that the plastic halfmoon clip on the cable below the throttle cable was loose and no longer properly attached to the throttle mechanism....which must also serve the purpose of returning the engine to idle.(?). I reattached it and it went back on with a light "snap". Shifts perfect now and no more in and out of lock-up all the time. Just something to look at before you go buy a TPS...or have your accelerator pedal stuck to the floor.

Nice find! I am guessing that was the adjuster on the cable that goes to the throttle valve on the transmission. Shifting will definitely be a problem with that not hooked up.
