Factory stall speed?

Does anyone know what the size the factory converter stall speed is on a 94 2500. I just had my tranny rebuilt and it feels like they put a super sloppy converter behind this cummins, the truck is BONE stock. I took it on a 300 mile trip and 3/4 of the way thru it the converter started locking and unlocking also. It wasnt until I hit a bunch of rain and the tranny cooled down that lockup started working properly. Any ideas?

Converter isn't that sloppy, probably 2000 stall? I know I just had to replace mine, TCC lockup went out.

Take it back to the people who rebuilt it, make sure they didn't put a gasser converter in.

Locking and unlocking could be anything from TPS to electrical noise. Doubt it had anything to do with trans fluid temperature. Did the trans temp light ever come on?

You've got me.. I put a low stall converter along with everything else in my truck so I really have no idea. I bought my truck with a converter like that and the only thing that really helped till the rebuild was tightening my throttle cable so my tranny would lock up. I had 2" of slack at my throttle pedal. Cheap split shot weights and I had full throttle plus my converter would finally lock up again.

Service manual states 1800-2300. Transmission hot, all wheels locked. Takes 4-5 seconds to reach this RPM, But DO NOT hold this RPM for more than 4-5 seconds as this will destroy converter due to extremely high temps generated so quickly.

I sure do appreciate the help. I really dont know. I bought the truck for about nothing, did some trading actually. It drove well for awhile. I drove it one day worked fine, went out the very next morning and had no overdrive from that point on. It never tried to go into OD or anything. I took it to the tranny shop after checking the TPS, OD solenoid, wiring, etc. It had 200,000 miles and just needed a rebuild. Got it rebuilt drove it for a few weeks and the wife and I decided to drive to New Orleans. It is about 300 miles from here. The truck Ran fine the whole trip until I reached New Orleans and started jumping out of lock up. Ran fine the whole time we were in New Orleans. Drove home, got to Mobile Alabama it started unlocking again. Started down pooring which cooled off the road and I would assume the tranny. The truck started locking up like it should. Dropped it off at the tranny shop. This was 3 weeks ago. They cant get it to duplicate the problem. I told them to drive it to New Orleans and call me in the morning!!

Make sure you are not confusing OD with TCC engage, OD is a very small drop in RPMs, and happens before TCC engage.

My OD drops the RPMs probably only 200 or so RPMs, and generally is in by 35 MPH, TCC lockup happens at 47 MPH and drops RPMs over 500.

And if it only happens while conditions are dry, I might be looking at the connections from the PCM to the trans, they provide 12V continuous to the trans, and drag the OD and TCC functions to ground to operate.

The truck with factory sized tires and 4.10 gears will still run 70-80 mph on the innerstate. Im am sure it is lockup because it will not run over 55 or so w/o OD. Im not thinking the "wet" weather was a cause or solution as much as it was the drop in temp when the down pour started. I have a feeling this is somehow heat related or cheap replacement converter.

My truck is a 98 3/4 ton with 4.10 rear end and is totally stock. I can only get about 50-55 mph with od disengaged. I assumed that was normal?
