I need to increase my idle speed a little, but at about 700 rpm with the engine good and warm, the temporary mechanical gauge I have rigged to he plug in the top of the oil filter housing reads about 20psi +/- and will go up a little if I stay parked for a minute or so. If I hold the idle speed a little higher, say closer to 800, it will go to between 25 and 30 psi. On cold start it is about 60, and cruising down the road it is always right on 40.

 

I believe my sending unit went on vacation. Where can I get a replacement? Can't seem to find them on line.

 

Buy the sender from your closest Cummins dealer.

I believe the minimum safe oil pressure spec is somewhere under 10 psi.
