Drivetrain lubricants.

I want to replace all the luricants in my drivetrain (differentials, transfer case, and NV4500).
What do you guys choose ? Also I don't know what's inside right now, is it safe to switch from dyno to synth and/or viceversa ?

I like all Amsoil products , and they mix , but it is recommended , that you drain , then mixes with whats left .
Then when it comes to additives , there are so many that there is not 1 answer. but heres a site .

Look at your manual if you still have it. In engine oils you can change from synthetics to conventional and even mix. That is different with Gearbox oils, especially differentials. If it calls for a syn then you must use syn. If it call for a regular you are supposed to use a regular. In some instances changing from one to the other can damage the seals. The manufacturer will not recommend switching in those cases. Again, check your manual.

You really need to get a copy or call Dodge and get in touch with someone that can give you a definitive answer. When it comes to your diffs this ain't no "Rottellas better, or Amsoils better". You have got to get it right.

The owners manual will not tell him which brand only the weight and viscosity he needs. which he can find out on here. synthetic all the way.

i just switched over my diffs to synthetic 75-140w oil that we use at work...... i would highly recommend using synthetics in your diffs. that 75-140 dino oil is THICK.... lots of friction cold, when i did my rear on sunday, i did it in the garage at all of 10 deg or so and filling the diff was all of 3 minute b/c the fluid poured SOOOOOOOOOOOOO easily.... im gonna be throwing amsoil ATF in my transfer case tomorrow after work as im sure its never been changed n the 200k miles on the truck. at my next oil change interval im gonna be switching to synthetic in the engine too

synthetics are a must if you live in cold climates like the northeast or northwest.....

yeah, i just filled my transfer case up with 85W-140 dino and it took FOREVER to fill in the cold weather and the truck seems to have a vibration or something that is hard to describe for a few miles when cold and then it's fine. I am suspecting that it might be related to the heavier fluid. It had the usual 85W-90 in it before. I'm leaning towards draining it and refilling with something a little lighter.
