Re:drive thru blues

Dude, its normal, its not the exhaust, its the actual engine. You will notice when anything is around your engine it is louder, the sound kinda echoes off it. Ever notice how when you drive by cars on the road it sounds like they have a diesel, thats your truck man. Love it! ;D

Re:drive thru blues

If I go through a drive through I usually part like 10 feet from the speaker, walk up and order, then continue on. I do this when I don't want to shut the truck off in the morning.

Re:drive thru blues

Welcome to the world of a diesel.
I know the newer diesels have been gaged and arent as loud. They may be able to do the drive throughs easier.
However, with our diesels, drive throughs just dont happen unless you can turn off the engine to order.

Ive always noticed that the speaker/recievers in most drive throughs are very low to the ground.
Thats great if the person inside the burger joint enjoys the sound of diesel.
But its horrible for ordering from the window of a truck.
Especially one that been lifted.
:

Rich

Re:drive thru blues

I've been standing at the counter when a diesel pulls up to the drive through. For some reason, those low budget talky systems seem to greatly amplify the lovely sound these engines make and the people wearing the headsets hate it and often curse. I love it.
Oops, that was bad.

Re:drive thru blues

Don't order at the speaker . They can't hear you !! Order after ariving at the window. If they have an attitude --leave the truck there ....and go inside to order . Visiting the washroom first may be necessary. Before ordering, ask for the manager (he will be the one with the fewest tattoes ) Mention that the drive is some what restricted and narrow for real AMERICAN TRUCKS , and you would like to see it widened . Tell him to have a nice day & Enjoy your meal ! !
