Do '97 "Made In Mexico," have 53 blocks?
I've been doing searches on the 53 block problems. Lots there. So far I can't see a 53 on mine when I look, but probably need to clean it there more just in case, and look again. However, I read that the made-in-Mexico blocks were NOT 53's. Now my door sticker says, "Made in Mexico," with build date of very late 1996, (it's a 1997 model year). SO......Does, "Made in Mexico," automatically mean it has a Mexican block? If so, I'm safe, according to the posts around this forum.
Thanks,
Dennis

Thanks,....
Thanks. Whew. I've got enough to check over without that too. My truck seems in great shape and I'm thrilled to even have it. I do want to look everything over really close though.
Infidel.....I see you are in Montana. I'm headed there next Thursday to see my daughter in Lewistown. Hopefully, with my new truck.

Ahhh...
Ouch. Well, I'll know about my block Monday. I'll have it up in the air and can see better then. However, Wildbill, considering the number of mods you have done to yours, you must not be too worried.
One way or the other, I'm going to just drive mine. But I am trying to limit my risks.

Dennis - I'm not to worried as my truck already has 315,000 miles on it! I figure if it was bad it would have shown up already, and I've heard the 12v 53 blocks were less of a problem than the 24v ones?
