difference in belt tensioner pulleys???

Had to take my a/c compressor off for replacement but need the truck. I have a NO A/C belt and the diagram for installation. However, the diagram shows the grooved side of the belt running on the tensioner pulley. Is that ok or is there another pulley available ro run no a/c?

thanks

From: North Carolina or Kentucky. Take your pick
According to diagram I found a different tensioner and pulley seems indicated. Flat pulley will not work against ribs.

I called the local Dodge dealer right after posting and the guy in parts said the two pulleys were the same. Dont know if he's right or wrong but it's working. dont know how long it will hold up but it's only until I get my compressor back in.

I'm not sure why people say to keep a non a/c belt for a spare if it wouldnt work.

I just checked my 01 service manual, it says the same tensioner pulley is used in both A/C and non-A/C systems.

Thanks Tate. It'll have to do until the compressor is back on. It just doesnt seem right with the grooves on the belt going against the smooth tensioner

I've run smooth pulley against ribbed side. I'm in same situation as you. I'm waiting for summer to fix ac. Been 3500 miles with this setup.

I'm running the no A/C belt on mine. Has been this way for over a year, works fine.
