The differances in the 180 and the 215 pumps please.
I held out for a month looking for a 96 to 98 to get the 215 pump. The engine is due today in a couple hours, shipping guy says it says march something 97 but also 180hp. So what this means it was an auto right? Is there any add. crap on the inj. pump that i want need due to it being an auto? And perf. wise will it hurt me with the parts i ordered yesterday? If interested in the perf. parts list, see conversions section. Are the delivery valves the same for the 180/215 or are they the 131's like in the 160 pumps? Thanks guys - any inf. on this pump would help lots..

Let me see if I can help you out here.
The 1996-1998 Dodge Cummins Diesel Pickups that were built with the 47RE automatic transmissions were equipped with the 180 P-7100 Fuel Pumps.
All 1996-1998 Dodge Cummins Diesel Pickups with the NV-4500 5-speed manual transmissions, were equipped with that 215 H.P. P-7100 Pump.
The difference between the 180 and 215 P-7100 fuel pumps is found internally on the P-7100's. The cam found in the 215 P-7100 fuel pump on the manual 5-speeds, has a more aggressive camshaft and the fuel curve torque plates are also different. Additionally, the 215 P-7100 fuel pumps were set up from the factory to flow more fuel. As I recall, the 180 pumps, were set between 160-180ccs and the 215's were around 180-200ccs. There is some "variation" on that from truck to truck though. Also, the 215 pumps, have a feature called a "light load advance" which basically advances the timing just slightly right off idle as you take off.
Hope this helps you out some. I am sure some of the other Members will come in here to help you also.

To the best of my knowlwdge...................
Yes if it is a 97 180 it was an auto, the only external diff that I'm aware of is the auto's had to have the TPS for obvious reasons so as long as the engines not goin in a electronic auto theres no need for it or any other parts to be (added)
Internally the diff between the 160, 175, 180, and 215 are the lift height on the cam that lifts the DV's (all DV's will switch out they look diff but they work), other than that the 160's, and 175's didn't lube on the top side of the plungers as well as the 180's, and 215's (they would stick)
Think thats most of the diff's if no maybe somebody'll chime in here and add or correct me.

Thanks guys, so there is going to be some ponies giving up due to the 180 instead of the 215- even with the cut cuts, 435's, afc mods, zero plate, ect.... in other words with all this stuff done im i still short as if these parts were in a 215? Make sence. Thanks again Ryan

What im after is for now doing it all myself to keep cost down. With the parts i mentined above in this 180 pump. Should it still perform well, or is it ness. to have work done on it an a shop it get it up to speed. Also have the 4k gsk and overflow valve coming for the pump. Im hoping in install the parts ive purchased and not have to involve a inj. shop for all that extra cost, atleast for now starting out. Thanks

No, i have not called anyone. It just arrived yes i says 180 on the pump, looks like it never been messed with and clean. theres a adj. rod on the pump that does from the accel. up front to i suppose the auto stuff, any reason i cant delete all that. And its missing a part on the drivers side. On the 2 stage gear accec. its what the vac. pump and then the power steering? Tha 2nd one is missing, you think this will been a big deal to get? Id say all else look great, well they did tie the turbo suppy line in a knot??? So that also no good, .
