Dealer maintenance
I dropped by the dealer today and priced a little preventative maintenance.
They want $755 to replace the 5th gear nut (nothing wrong with it right now) and a fluid change. $350 more if a new gear is needed.
$1100 to change the clutch/pilot & throughout bearings not including resurfacing of the flywheel or a pressure plate if needed.
$175 to change the rear main crank seal since it's all apart for a total of a little over 2 grand.
All comes with a 12 month 12,000 mile warranty.
How bad are they trying to stick it to me?

The word "dealer" automatically means they are gonna "stick it to ya." I have had it with dealers robbing me. I actaully have some pent up hostility towards the local Dodge dealers in my area. Sorry- I'll talk to a therapist about my issues later. Anyway, find a reputable independent diesel specialist in your area, and build a business relationship. It will mean better repairs, and lower costs.
