CV joint in front driveshaft?
When I picked up my truck, the previous owner advised me of a knocking sound (from the front driveshaft) when the truck was in 4WD.
He included another driveshaft (like new) and said to install it and it'd fix the problem.
Upon removal of the old shaft, I found that it had been completely rebuilt, new U joints and everything. Only thing he didn't replace was the CV joint..
I put the other (used) shaft on and it no longer knocked. I figure I would probably be better off with the other shaft if I replace the CV joint since it already has new U joints and all.
Should I or shouldn't I? Is it worth the hassle and cost or should I just leave it?

I would rebuild the cv joint (make sure it is not bent at all)you don't how good those old shaft u joints are,you don't want to have a problem in a mud hole or in the winter at -0. but that is just my 11/2 cents
