For that price, buy the kit and do it yourself. If they are experienced, it will take no where near 4 hours to do. 2.1 hours just to verify the old timing? Unless its way out, it shouldn't take that long. It took me and ccmckee about 2 hours to verify his timing, but his was way out at 24 degrees, we checked and rechecked TDC, what the plunger lift was, and what model pump he had on it. If timing is close to what it should be, should be about 15 minutes to verify, and maybe another 45 minutes to set it.

Get the tools, and between DTR and the rest of the net, you'll have enough info on how to do it. And then you can retime your truck when you want, and if you wanted to, make a little money on the side by timing other guys trucks.

If they did not remove the gear from the pump how did they change the timing? When I did mine I used the TDC pin and the timing was at 13.5 deg. I had to pull the gear to reset it to 15 deg. I don't see any other way to change the timing but to pull the gear. Now to verify what it already is is another story, that is done without removing any gears. I still say that to change the timing would be very hard to do in less than 2 hours. Maybe someone that does it every day might be able to do it in 1.5 or 1.75 hrs but that would be very fast for anyone. If you were in northeast wisconsin I would do it for you for $150 if you leave the truck here. $250 if you watch me.
